ROBERT J. CURTISOWNER & CEOFor those truly bored…
Electronics has always fascinated me. As a young lad, music, shortwave radios and electric trains consumed most of my time. This led to an intense curiosity of how these devices worked and how they could be made to work better. We must pause here for a moment and remember all those poor radios and trains that could not be put back together again… and those that could be, regretted being in my toy box. Being from a musical family, I took an interest in my brother’s electric guitar playing, followed in his footsteps and adapted guitar as the focus for many years. I jammed out 80’s metal throughout the high-school years and beyond. The quest for the ultimate guitar sound was on. In 1990, I enrolled in the RCC School of Electronics technician program and propelled me into my electronics career. The first post was repairing Switch-Mode Power Supplies at Tectrol Inc. This experience provided me with much practical workings of high power electronics, PWM control/power conversion and also manufacturing processes. With much lamenting over which two passions to hone, guitar vs. electronics came up with an interesting way to combine both disciplines into one activity. In 2004, I began tube amp design and built many prototypes. Through Sales and marketing activities valued relationships were formed with many local Music Shops leading to the launching of RedX Repairs. We look forward to extending our years of experience and getting your special item back up and performing as it should. |
